This is basically a product demonstrator for heads up display technology. Imagine this built into your car windshield with heads up Google maps overlaid on the road itself. Or imagine an entire retail store display window (like an Apple store) made of this where adverts for the latest product were animated rather than being large stickers and posters? This has lots and lots of potential. This tech (improved) on your face as a pair of glasses becomes augmented reality. Basically I see this as a proof of concept for development of AR tech.

At $7200, with a resolution of 1920x1080 - Or 2,073,600 individual pixels - It costs you about $0.0035 per pixel. Of course, the per pixel cost is actually lower than that because you're spending some of that $7200 on the mainboard, chipset and other hardware components, the software, the other physical parts besides the display, and of course, the exclusivity of the thing, which is costly. So I'd guess ~$0.0012 per pixel. No effing way I'd buy a TV like that... You're right, it's for the wow factor and probably meant to be used at venues like the Detroit Auto Show, hotel or business lobby's, etc. - Did you actually spend your own money on that thing? Not smart.
