i got a 2600x in 2019, the only reason i replaced it recently with a 3600 is because it allowed me to utilize my new 3060ti. the 2600 was just bottlenecking it more than I'd like.

i opted for the 2700x over the 3600x and just opted for the 3700x as an upgrade over the 5600x. the reason i chose to go that route is because i stream from my computer i game on so the extra cores helps to offload performance.i also upgraded my ssd to one of pcie4 and doubling my sequential read speed. i am aware these stats are hypothetical but i do notice the significant performance improvements from my upgrade. i also went from a hyper 212 evo to an aio liquid cooler because i just don't have the time to figure out custom loops. someday I'll go back and add one but for now an aio is fine for my needs.

Getting a Ryzen 5 3400G for my home (mostly Plex) server, to avoid using a GPU, or at least have the option. Still have a Ryzen 7 3800X on my main/gaming PC. It’s fast and pretty great, even at stock speeds.

I am glad I found mine for under $200, a couple of weeks ago from Microcenter. Gotta be careful with them, ordered an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming (wifi) and they gave me the one without wifi. Have yet to see the difference in the price of the board.

2:00 Not sure why Phenom II flopped. I was using a Phenom II x6 1090T processor for 5+ years paired with a Radeon HD 5770 and I could play any game happily! It was a performance powerhouse. I used it for video editing, audio production, and it would handle anything I threw at it.

I had a 5800x - Got tired of waiting for the 3600 to come back into stock, however the 5800x had a core (2) that failed the newish tool "core cycler" (Prime95 backend) and OCCT's corecycler test with SSE. It appears the CPU wasn't stable at default without a voltage boost via curve optimiser. There are similar reports out there from 5800x/5900x/5950x owners - I sent back my 5800x (Who wants a CPU that fails at stock settings!) and here I am, Either bad QC from AMD or the 5000 Series needs to mature either way I feel this is the best way to go currently! - Soon to be the owner of a 3600 that's on order.
